PRIVACY

A simple note about your information.

FocusAlong is a chat-free body-doubling space. We only use the information needed to make rooms work, keep them safe, and show a little shared momentum.

Last updated: September 10, 2026

What we collect

When you join a room, we collect the display name and task list you choose to enter, your selected room, focus-timer status, and a temporary anonymous session identifier. We also record small room events such as joining, leaving, changing a task, pausing a timer, completing a task, or sending encouragement. If you use our contact form, we collect the topic and message you submit, along with any name or email you choose to provide.

What people in a room can see

While you are active in a room, other people in that room can see your display name or initials, current task, focus status, and elapsed focus time. The room activity feed can show the events listed above. It is not a private journal, so please do not enter sensitive, confidential, or personal information.

How we use it

We use this information to provide live room presence, restore an interrupted focus session, enforce room capacity and anti-spam limits, and operate the activity feed. FocusAlong does not include direct messages or sell personal information.

Storage and retention

Your active room session is stored in your browser so a page refresh can restore it. Leaving a room clears that saved session, while your most recently used display name stays in your browser to prefill the next room and can always be changed. Each room displays only its newest 100 activity items. Anonymous accounts and their related room activity and feedback submissions are scheduled for cleanup after 30 days; guests who are actively in a room are excluded until they leave.

Service providers

FocusAlong uses Supabase to provide anonymous sign-in, realtime room presence, and activity storage. Our hosting and infrastructure providers may process the limited data needed to run the service.

Your choices

You can use a nickname, choose what task details to share, leave a room at any time, and clear your browser data to remove the locally saved session. If you have a privacy question, deletion request, or feedback, use our contact form.
